Labor Day Camp

August 29 to September 1, 2025

Welcome to Labor Day Camp

Embrace the warmth of community and the beauty of the Coastal Redwoods this September at Labor Day Camp. Tucked deep in the Mendocino Woodlands, our camp offers a serene escape to wind down from summer’s hustle. As you take the scenic spiral drive down a dirt road, you’ll find yourself in a stunning haven—a place to simply be.

Whether you’re hiking beneath towering redwoods, swimming in clear waters, reading a favorite book, playing instruments, crafting, or singing around the campfire, Labor Day Camp is the perfect opportunity to connect with nature and each other. With no cell service, it’s an ideal setting for kids to be kids and for everyone to unplug and reconnect.

A Camper-Led Experience
Unlike Family Camp, Labor Day Camp does not feature programmed activities or workshops. Instead, campers bring their own creativity to the table—sharing crafts, games, and activities with others. If you’d like to organize an activity, please indicate this at registration or contact the camp dean directly.

Volunteer-Run Community
Labor Day Camp thrives on its volunteer spirit. Campers work together in groups to support and lead daily camp activities. A limited number of kitchen, sanitation, and administrative staff positions are available, offering reduced registration costs for those who participate.

Meals at Camp
Enjoy delicious, casual comfort food prepared with fresh, mostly organic ingredients. Meals are served buffet or family-style and feature evening desserts you won’t want to miss! Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are always available, and other dietary needs can be accommodated upon request.

Lodging and Facilities
Campers stay in rustic redwood cabins with screened windows, nestled among towering trees and a bubbling stream. Each cabin area has bathroom facilities (no electricity), and the main shower house provides hot water and electricity. Meals and most activities happen around the Dining Hall, a cozy, well-lit space perfect for evening gatherings.

Accessibility Information
Please note that the historic Mendocino Woodlands may pose accessibility challenges for some individuals with physical disabilities. If you have concerns or questions, reach out to the camp deans at deans@ncuucc.org.
